Applicants are urged to come up with ideas, methods or products for gleaning resources from waste, how zero-waste consumption can be achieved and how to transform Hamburg into a zero-waste city. Hamburg-based designers with a university degree in a design field or at least one year of professional experience are eligible to apply. At least one member of a team must meet the entry requirements.
The Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft and the Design Zentrum Hamburg are now accepting applications for the "Silberstreifen Design Award" until the deadline of December 4, 2022. Designers in any field can enter all kinds of creative ideas for zero-waste and the circular economy. Individual winners receive EUR 2,000 in prize money while group entries stand to win EUR 3,000 and an opportunity to exhibit their work at the Design Zentrum Hamburg.

Funding and turning ideas around
The prize money will allow ten winners or teams to turn around their ideas. Contestants can attend workshops on financing and business models, make contact with former winners and gain feedback from an expert jury including Karel J. Golta, Managing Director Indeed Innovation, Kathrin Oeding, Managing Director Studio Oeding, and Claudia S. Friedrich Member of the Board of the German Designer Club. The winners will have four weeks to turn their ideas into exhibits or prototypes for an exhibition in January 2023. More information can be found on the Design Zentrum Hamburg's website.
