EXPO REAL is considered one of the most important international trade fairs for property and investment in Europe. Hamburg will once again be represented at the leading networking and working trade fair from 7 to 9 October 2024 in Munich: 55 companies will present a diverse portfolio of properties, commercial space and projects on the Elbe, Alster and Bille rivers at the joint stand of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
Karen Pein, Senator for Urban Development and Housing: "We will experience a very special Expo Real this year. Germany's construction and property industry is struggling massively with the current challenges, and we are currently feeling this in Hamburg in particular. Together with the largest and most important companies and players, we in the north are currently working intensively on solutions to make building more affordable again. One key approach is to reduce building standards, optimise planning and construction processes and speed up approval procedures. At the same time, we are designating building land, investing significantly in public infrastructure and thus continuing to offer the construction industry many investment opportunities. After all, Hamburg is and will remain one of the most attractive property locations in Germany and beyond thanks to its location and pioneering projects."
Finance Senator Dr Andreas Dressel: "Thanks to the best infrastructure, qualified specialists, innovative companies and a consistent expansion of science and research, Hamburg is one of the top locations for future investments and project developments. We are meeting the challenges posed by the demand for adequate residential and commercial space with unrivalled and even better conditions for residential construction subsidies and heritable building rights. Our so-called 'Hamburg Houses' are another important building block for sustainable and efficient construction in public spaces: these modular buildings are used to realise good spaces flexibly, reliably and, above all, cost-effectively."
Dr Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Wirtschaftsförderung Hamburg Invest: "The challenges facing the real estate industry are becoming increasingly diverse: from the decarbonisation of buildings and the use of AI and robotics to smart buildings and innovative energy solutions - all of these topics are becoming increasingly important. EXPO REAL offers companies the unique opportunity to discuss these complex developments face-to-face with industry leaders and decision-makers, strengthen networks and forge new partnerships. We are delighted that 55 companies from Hamburg appreciate this offer this year and will contribute to maintaining the high level of quality and quantity of the Hamburg pavilion of previous years."
For the first time, the infrastructure of the Hamburg metropolitan region will be impressively presented at EXPO REAL. An interactive touch table at the Hamburg stand will allow visitors to playfully explore "Northern Germany's Connected Hub" and search for specific commercial properties - including information on locations, sizes, transport connections and planning categories (GEFIS).
This year's central stand partner is once again HafenCity Hamburg GmbH, which has stood for innovative concepts and sustainable solutions in urban development for more than two decades. Areas such as HafenCity, Grasbrook, Billebogen and Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld are paving new ways in many areas - for example for climate protection, mobility, neighbourhood development, participation and digitalisation.
Dr Andreas Kleinau, CEO of HafenCity Hamburg GmbH: "As the driving force behind the sustainable and liveable city of tomorrow, we are helping to shape Hamburg's development as a location of the future. in 2024, we were able to further sharpen the profile of Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld in particular. Science City is an outstanding location that will combine research, teaching and learning under the best conditions with living, working and leisure in a green neighbourhood with short distances. We will be presenting this breakthrough as well as the milestones achieved for HafenCity, Billebogen and Grasbrook at the Hamburg stand and look forward to the dialogue."
As a sought-after meeting place for the industry, Hamburg's joint stand will feature various events this year: The Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Construction, Klara Geywitz, and Hamburg's Senator Karen Pein will discuss the Hamburg initiative for cost-reduced construction on Monday, 7 October at 2 pm, followed by Finance Senator Dr Andreas Dressel presenting the topic of serial and modular construction in the education sector to the public at 4 pm. The band "Da Capo" will provide a lively atmosphere at the exhibition stand from 7 pm.
The second day of the fair, 8 October, will be dominated by the "Hamburg.HafenCity.Talk". The panel discussion with Senator Karen Pein, Dr Rolf Strittmatter and Dr Andreas Kleinau will begin at 11 am.
This year, moovin Immobilien GmbH will be present as a stand partner from the startup sector. The Hamburg-based real estate agent and PropTech digitises flat rentals and offers property services throughout Germany.
