"We are giving companies an opportunity to identify and optimize their innovative potential in climate and environmental protection through the 'Green Potential Screening' funding scheme," said Ralf Sommer, CEO of Hamburgische Investitions- und Förderbank. The evaluation of green business models also focuses on innovations in resource and energy efficiency as well as the circular economy. The results of the feasibility studies will form the basis for implementing R&D projects. The scheme is open to companies of all sizes and sectors with a permanent office in Hamburg and co-operating universities and research institutions in the city. The first funding decisions are expected in the second quarter of 2025.
Companies in Hamburg now have until the deadline of February 28, 2025 to apply for up to EUR 1 million in funds for climate and environmental protection projects a part of the "Green Potential Screening" scheme. Potential for climate and environmental protection
Scheme to boost city as an innovation centre
"Green Potential Screening" is part of the "PROFI Environment" funding scheme for more climate and environmental protection and provides incentives for more sustainable business practices. "Climate protection requires rapid action and innovative ideas. "We want to encourage new approaches and innovation through the 'Green Potential Screening' scheme," said Jens Kerstan, Senator for the Environment. However, many companies lack the resources or expertise to identify all the CO2-saving opportunities or to develop new green business models. The initiative addresses these issues and shows companies potential measures for sustainable products and processes.
