Hamburg Aviation announces "Global Aerospace Cluster Partnership"

12 July 2023
GACP to boost global co-operation among international aerospace clusters

Hamburg Aviation launched the newly-founded Global Aerospace Cluster Partnership (GACP) at the Paris Air Show in late June, a press release said (June 30, 2023). GACP promotes collaboration, knowledge exchange and innovation in the global aerospace industry and will build on the work of the European Aerospace Cluster Partnership (EACP). A total of 12 clusters as well as sponsors, representatives of EACP and the European Commission attended the first official meeting in Paris.

GACP to boost innovation through collaboration

"We are creating the basis for continuous global knowledge exchange, strategic co-operation and joint initiatives through GACP," said Niklas Schilling, EACP's Co-ordinator and International Affairs Manager at Hamburg Aviation. The aim is to increase the competitiveness of members and strengthen their position as innovation leaders, he added. Synergies between the partners are to be exploited to address the challenges facing the industry. This should result in growth, sustainability and competitiveness. GACP is sponsored by Aéro Montréal, Gouvernement du Québec, EDB Singapore, International Aviation Supply Chain and EACP.

Long-standing exchange of international aerospace clusters

Co-operation between international aerospace clusters began in 2017 as part of the Global Aerospace Cluster Summit, Hamburg Aviation said. Calls for more regular meetings were expressed during the 2022 summit and have given rise to GACP. "By focusing on international collaboration, we are better equipped to address the strategic challenges facing our members, such as decarbonization, cybersecurity and advanced air mobility," said Mélanie Lussier, President of Aéro Montréal.
