Performances begin officially on September 18, with a revival of a ballet to the "Third Symphony by Gustav Mahler". However, the ballet was not created according to a Libretto. Thus, the music itself is its theme. Apart from four other revivals, Neumeier will celebrate the last world premiere of a new creation as ballet director in December. For this, he has chosen the Mass in B minor by Johann Sebastian Bach, which will be staged as "Dona Nobis Pacem. The revivals include "Préludes CV" from October 27, 2022, "Illusions - like Swan Lake" from February 11, 2023 and "Romeo and Juliet" from June 11, 2023.
The company will also give four guest performances in Baden-Baden, Venice, Chicago and Tokyo. The Hamburg Ballett Days have been expanded to a four-week festival this year to celebrate the finale. Neumeier has invited three guest companies to dance works from his varied repertoire to mark the occasion. The "Saint Matthew Passion" will return to St. Michael's Church while the National Youth Ballet and the School of the Hamburg Ballet will perform on the grand stage of the Hamburg State Opera. The celebrations will climax and conclude with Neumeier's final, star-studded Nijinsky Gala XLV, which promises a glittering end to this special season and his personal farewell to Hamburg Ballet.
