The next generation of airport employees are starting out in nine professions from dual business studies to apprenticeships as IT specialists, mechanics, electronics technicians, automotive mechatronics technicians, industrial clerks and plant firefighters. The number of apprentices is the largest ever and most trainees remain employed at the airport after completing their training, Hamburg Airport said.
Hamburg Airport welcomed 20 new apprentices and dual students in nine professions while 25 young people began training in STEM subjects i.e., science, technology, engineering, and mathematics at Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) on Tuesday. Meanwhile, 25 apprentices have begun practical training in HHLA's operating facilities and branches in Germany and abroad including Container-Transport-Dienst (CTD), Metrans Rail Deutschland and FMH Fischmarkt Hamburg-Altona. "HHLA offers training and study places in line with demand. We see good, future prospects for them in the company," said Clarissa Groß, Head of Human Resources Development at HHLA. "It is important to build up skills among employees that our company will need to be successful on the market in future." HHLA provides training in technical and commercial professions, such as mechatronics engineers and digitalization management specialists. HHLA offers its dual students a STEM focus on computer engineering, electrical engineering, IT technology and industrial engineering.
