This resulted in authentic views of miniature worlds in central Germany, Bavaria, Hamburg, Austria, Switzerland, the United States, Scandinavia and the fantasy city of Knuffingen and airport. Gerrit Braun, co-founder of Miniatur Wunderland, said: “Normally, you just have a front or rear view of our plant. But these new photographs give users a first glance of Miniatur Wunderland that visitors do not get during live visits.” These places include 360-degree views of the terminal in Knuffingen Airport, Hamburg Main Railway Station and the Las Vegas desert region and gambling metropolis.
Hailed as a Guinness World record, fans can now pay a digital visit to the world’s largest model railway, Miniatur Wunderland, using Google maps street view. Google, Miniatur Wunderland and their partner, Ubilabs, have developed tiny cameras to photograph every nook and cranny of the Miniatur Wunderland. The cameras were then mounted on model buses and trains running on small streets and railway tracks.

Miniatur Wunderland is an important tourist attraction in Hamburg and a new, record 1,251,598 people visited the 1,300 square metre tiny world in 2015 – nearly a 3 per cent increase over 2014, according to the manager. Almost 25 per cent of visitors came from abroad. More than 100,000 visitors travelled from Switzerland, Austria and Denmark alone to view the completed parts: Scandinavia, Hamburg, the U.S., central Germany, Knuffingen, Austria, Switzerland and Knuffingen Airport.
In autumn 2016, Italy will count among the completed parts after a four-year construction period and well over 100,000 hours of work. Provisional completion of Miniatur Wunderland is scheduled for 2020. Until then, the route network will account for about 20,000 square metres of tracks on a module area measuring 2,300 square metres.
