The future looks bright as a new, shorter version of the musical will be staged from February making it easier for fans to plan their visit. The three-and-a-half-hour show including intermission will be performed in the afternoons or evenings. The present, two-part version of the musical is being staged until January 8. The shorter version remains true to the original, the organizers stressed.
Around 300,000 fans have attended 195 "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" shows in Hamburg making for an average occupancy rate of 90 per cent since its premiere at the Mehr! Theater in Hammerbrook last December. "It makes us extraordinarily proud to play to an almost sold-out house in these challenging times," said Matthias Lienemann, Managing Director, and noted that some fans have seen the show more than ten times.

Success for Hamburg
The Harry Potter musical in Hamburg is the first non-English production of the show. The English version has already been performed on Broadway in New York as well as in London and counts among the award-winning theatre productions in Britain. Hamburg is the world's third-largest centre of musicals after New York and London. The Hamburg-based Carlsen Verlag brought the book series to Germany, making the city the ideal choice for the hit production, as reflected by its positive impact on the creative industries and Hamburg's perception as a centre of culture.
