New FischerAppelt headquarters to become flagship of west Hamburg
A "New Work Campus" on an 11,000-square-metre on Gasstrasse near Science City Bahrenfeld is set to become the headquarters of the Fischer-Appelt Group and a magnet for communication and innovative forms of work, a press release said Friday (July 2, 2021). This comes after the top international architects, Carsten Roth Architekten, won the tender to build the prestigious campus. Weinmann Emergency will become the other main resident when the building is ready for occupancy in 2025. The project is being backed by the Hamburg Economic Development Corporation.
Key building block en route to Science City Bahrenfeld
Dr. Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Invest, noted: "The site on Gasstrasse is one of the most attractive urban commercial spaces marketed by Hamburg Invest in Altona. The use as a ‘New Work Campus’ by the FischerAppelt Group and Weinmann Emergency, as well as businesses close to the city district, is a positive signal for the location. The project is an important building block towards developing Bahrenfeld into Science City." Office space for new companies will also be created there.
Offices for hybrid working and creative workshops
The new fischerAppelt headquarters will set the pace for other working environments including makerspaces i.e., places in which people with shared interests, especially in computing or technology, can gather to work on projects while sharing ideas, equipment, and knowledge and other hybrid work models. The future of work offers spaces of possibility in which changeability and unfinishedness become the core element. "The architecture in the form of a creative nest opens up countless possibilities," said Bernhard Fischer-Appelt, CEO of fischerAppelt.
FischerAppelt to move 700 employees in
The property developers, Hamburg Team and Harmonia Immobilien, are sponsoring the overall project to create self-sufficient and urbanistically-merged buildings on two adjacent plots of land. The FischerAppelt Group, with 700 employees, and Weinmann Emergency will be among the first tenants.
