Scoopcamp 2023 to highlight journalism of the future

Innovation Conference for Media and Digital Industries gets underway on September 14

This year's Scoopcamp on September 14, 2023 will focus on how journalists can reach Generation Z, attract talented, young professionals and finance the industry in future. Several top speakers are expected at the conference, hosted by next.Media.Hamburg and Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa in the M28 creative warehouse in the Speicherstadt. The agenda features panels and workshops during which delegates will discuss all the latest challenges facing the industry and concrete use cases for digital success in the industry.

Reaching young target groups 

After a welcoming speech by Dr Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media, Johanna Leuschen, Head of Portfolio and Innovation at NDR, will lead through the Scoopcamp. Hatice Kahraman, Head of Editorial Salon 5 at Correctiv, and Johanna Rüdigerm Head of Social Media Strategy, Culture and Documentaries at Deutsche Welle, will explain how best to prepare journalistic content for young target groups. The experts will share lessons from their everyday work and give  examples of best practices. Miriam Scharlibbem Editor-in-Chief of the Schleswig-Holsteinischer Zeitungsverlag, will show how regional media companies can create the right conditions for young people and reach them in the digital age.

Emphasis on latest challenges and funding 

The agenda also features the creator economy, talent management, the role of artificial intelligence for the future of the media, audience management and financing media content. Nashua Gallagher, Lead Product Manager of the Swiss Neue Zürcher Zeitung, will give a keynote on paywalls for financing journalism. Other speakers include Maylis Chevalier, Director of Innovation and Digital Product at Vocento, Sebastian Kuhnert, Vice President of Business Development at Chess.com, and Roland Eisenbrand, Head of Content at the Online Marketing Rockstars. This year's Scoopcamp will be jointly organized and curated by nextMedia.Hamburg and a new board of leading media companies including Die Zeit, NDR, Der Spiegel, New Work SE, Hamburger Abendblatt, brand eins, dpa, NOZ Digital, Jahreszeiten Verlag, OMR, Bauer Media Group and RTL. First held in 2009, Scoopcamp has brought together more than 150 experts in the media and digital industries every year to discuss all the latest current trends and challenges.
