"Startup Champs" enters next round on June 23

Start-up hotspots Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne and Munich vying for best young companies in transport and logistics sector

Germany's annual Startup Champs enters the next round Thursday (June 23, 2022) when Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne and Munich seek the most innovative and sustainable start-ups in the mobility and logistics sector. The cities are inviting contestants to enter a digital pitch that will be streamed live from Hamburg.

Twelve contestants

Three start-ups from each region that have been selected in a public vote will vie for the top prize. They will pitch their business ideas to a jury of experts, who will select Germany's "Startup Champ 2022" and honour the regional winners. The winning start-ups can expect attractive prizes such as participation in Slush, Europe's largest start-up event, or South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas which is a mix of trade exhibition, festival and conference.

Promoting Germany as a start-up location

The start-up hotspots of Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne and Munich seek to advance Germany as a start-up location and to increase the visibility of German young companies nationally and on a global scale. The cities are also collaborating on other projects such as the #FemupStartups initiative. Dr. Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Invest, which is co-ordinating the Startup Champs competition for the city, stressed: "Thanks to the great co-operation between established companies, urban institutions and private initiatives, Hamburg has grown into an international start-up city. The Startup Champs gives young companies a platform to present their business models nationwide."
