"Crises mean startups. The latest figures are a strong signal for Germany as a business centre," said Helmut Schönenberger, Vice Chair of the Startup Association. "The software sector in particular is booming, with 618 new start-ups in the year under review. Thus, more than one in five new start-ups was founded in this sector". The increase in the number of startups is across the board and in almost every sector, the association said. Food (164) and ecommerce (162) have stabilised after a decline in 2023. Education (119) and games (129), which had two tough years after the pandemic in 2021, rebounded in 2024.
