The "Hercules" musical is based on the 1997 Walt Disney Studios animated film of the same name and will be performed in the Stage Theater Neue Flora from March 2024. As the son of Zeus, the demigod Hercules sets out in search of his place in the world. The film score by multiple award-winners Alan Menken and David Zippel features R&B and gospel hits from the film including the Oscar-nominated song “Go the Distance”, “Zero to Hero and “I Won't Say I’m in Love”. The duo has written some new songs for the stage version based on the book by Tony Award winner Robert Horn and Kwame Kwei-Armah.
Stage Entertainment has extended shows of "Frozen" musical for another year and announced the world premiere of "Hercules" in Hamburg in 2024. "Frozen", produced by Disney Theatrical Productions (DTP) was first performed in the Stage Theater on the banks of the Elbe River in 2021. Disney classics are performed on five large and many smaller stages across Hamburg, which is the third largest city of musicals after New York and London. More than one million tickets for the "The Ice Queen" have sold in Hamburg alone.
World premiere of "Hercules"
Dynamic Hanseatic market
"Hamburg's expert audiences have loved our musicals and enthusiastically embraced five of our Disney-on-Broadway shows for 25 years," said Thomas Schumacher, President & Producer at DTP. The sixth musical, "Hercules", will celebrate its world premiere in Hamburg - a first for the city - which can boast a particularly dynamic musical market. "The combination of a population with great appreciation for the performing arts and Stage Entertainment's extraordinary, responsible staging has made Hamburg a theatre capital that ranks among the best in the world," Schumacher continues.
