Various ideas such as the JAL A350-1000 Cabin Interior by Tangerine Ltd, which combines Japanese aesthetics with modern comfort, stood out in the "Cabin Concepts" category. The BermudAir Aisle Class Suite, an innovation by Factorydesign and BermudAir, is an avant-garde revolution in business class and features a suite that combines privacy and luxurious space with a unique aisle concept. Sustainability is also a central theme. The Airspace Cabin Vision 2035+ by Airbus Operations (see photo) is remarkable for digitally supported, waste-reducing catering concepts, lightweight construction and environment-friendly materials. Collins Aerospace and Diehl Aviation have come up with weight reduction solutions that cut fuel consumption in aviation. Recaro Aircraft Seating's eco-friendly seating concept uses sustainable materials such as cork, wood as well as recycled fishing nets and was nominated in the "Sustainable Cabin" category. Their idea is expected to save 63 tones of CO2 emissions annually.
Hamburg Aviation, organiser of the Crystal Cabin Awards, announced in April the finalists of this year's prestigious aircraft cabin interiors awards. The top 25 entries will pitch their ideas for more comfortable flying during the Aircraft Interiors Expo (May 28-30, 2024) in eight categories: Cabin Concepts, Cabin Systems, Health & Safety, IFEC & Digital Services, Materials & Components, Passenger Comfort, Sustainable Cabin and University. The winners will be announced at a gala dinner in the Chamber of Commerce Hamburg.

The finalists will also present ground-breaking technologies for improved passenger comfort and flight safety. Products such as the barrier-free entertainment offered by Safran Passenger Innovations are great for passengers with disabilities. A passenger lap belt airbag by Schroth Safety Products offers them more protection in the event of an accident thanks to a mix of integrated airbag and crash sensors. Concepts such as the multi-orbit connectivity solution by Intelsat and the Adapt System by Collins Aerospace are revolutionising the way passengers use digital services on board.
