Hamburg joint stand at MIPIM in Cannes

5 March 2025
Hamburg's real estate industry is also making its presence felt in the current market situation and is represented at the leading international real estate trade fair MIPIM in Cannes, France: 20 companies will be exhibiting at the joint Hamburg stand in the Palais des Festivals from 11 to 14 March 2025 to open up new business and meet key international players and investors.

The trade fair brings together the entire value chain and offers exhibitors and guests access to the largest number of property development projects and sources of capital worldwide.

Hamburg's Senator for Urban Development and Housing, Karen Pein, will be attending again this year: "MIPIM offers a central platform to focus on forward-looking developments in the areas of sustainable construction, energy-efficient refurbishment and affordable housing," emphasises Senator Karen Pein. "In view of the pressing challenges of climate change and rising construction costs, we need to break new ground: Conserving resources and protecting the climate are essential - as is economical and socially acceptable housing construction. With the new Hamburg Standard, we are sending out a strong signal and demonstrating in a practical way how we can reduce construction costs through intelligent planning and innovative processes, make processes more efficient and still fulfil appropriate quality and climate protection requirements at the same time. Affordable housing must not be a contradiction to ambitious climate targets - rather, we must critically scrutinise existing standards, dare to make bold simplifications and develop viable solutions together. The greatest benefits for all parties involved are achieved by striking a balance between economic efficiency and sustainability. Ultimately, this will also benefit tenants."

"Hamburg's future is being created through the interaction of urban society, science and business," adds Dr Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of the business development and investment agency Hamburg Invest. "Our city puts people at the centre and creates the basis for technological and social progress with innovation locations such as Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld and the innovation parks in Hamburg. These developments are shaping the way we will live and work in the future and offer the property sector attractive prospects for investing in Hamburg."

HafenCity Hamburg GmbH, which has stood for innovative concepts and sustainable solutions in urban development for more than two decades, is once again the city's central stand partner this year.

"We create the conditions for project developments that are worthwhile - for all sides," says Dr Andreas Kleinau, CEO of HafenCity Hamburg GmbH. "In our four major urban development areas HafenCity, Billebogen, Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld and Grasbrook, we are successfully coordinating and developing forward-looking neighbourhoods. From 2025, new attractive locations are emerging in Grasbrook and Billebogen in particular. We are also focussing on spaces that create community and infrastructure that connects people. We are always pushing ahead with sustainable, future-oriented pilot projects in all areas."

This year, the joint Hamburg stand will once again offer top-class discussion rounds where participants can enter into dialogue with representatives of the City of Hamburg. On Tuesday, 11 March, the stand will be opened by Dr Rolf Strittmatter at 15:00, followed by a themed talk on the 25th anniversary of the HafenCity Masterplan and on the topic of"Designing living spaces sustainably" with HafenCity Hamburg Managing Director Dr Andreas Kleinau and Reiner Nagel, Chairman of the Federal Foundation of Baukultur. The "Hamburg.HafenCity.Talk" with Senator Karen Pein, Dr Andreas Kleinau and Dr Rolf Strittmatter is scheduled for 12 March at 11:00 a.m., during which the challenges and future of the construction industry will be discussed. This will be followed at 14:00 by another event with Hamburg's Senator for Urban Development, Karen Pein, who will present the topic"The Hamburg Standard - Fast and Cost-Effective Construction" .

The joint Hamburg stand (approx. 120 m²) in the Palais des Festivals is located in "Riviera 8" (R8.B20)
