"As Germany's hub of mobility and logistics, the centre of the north German hydrogen ecosystem and home to Europe's largest inner-city development project, Hamburg is better suited than any other place for scaling up green technologies," said Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Invest. The Scaleup Landing Pad makes it easier than ever for fledgling young companies to gain a foothold in Germany and Europe. The scheme is unique in Germany and will strengthen Hamburg's innovation ecosystem in the long term. One of the its mains aspects is the co-operation between scale-ups and established companies across the metropolitan region. Interested companies based in Hamburg can submit their innovation projects before the application procedure to find suitable partnerships.
Launched in 2022 on behalf of the Ministry of Economics and Innovation, the pad won the Startup Ecosystem Start Award last December with the Senate Chancellery's GovTecHH. "Progressive climate change means fundamental change for society. The Scaleup Landing Pad Hamburg makes an important contribution to attracting young companies with innovative solutions to the city," said Dr Melanie Leonard, Senator for Economics. To be eligible for the scheme, scale-ups must demonstrate business success in their home market, be in a strong growth phase and seek to establish themselves in Hamburg's ecosystem. Hamburg Invest is accepting applications until late March. Onboarding will start in May 2024.
