"The variety of climate-friendly, urban mobility options in Hamburg continues to grow. For residents of Hamburg, HVV Switch is the key to effortlessly using modern sharing alternatives instead of their own cars. This is an ideal example of why digitialisation and the switch to electric drives play such a notable role in the mobility transition and how we can make our transport flexible, CO2-free and independent of fossil fuels," said Anjes Tjarks, Senator for Transport and Mobility Transition. Henrik Falk, CEO of Hochbahn, pointed out: "HVV Switch is the first platform nationwide to integrate Germany's largest all-electric car-sharing provider. This is the result of a consistent strategy toward zero-emission transport."
HVV added Tuesday (August 9, 2022) WeShare’s all-electric vehicles to its Switch app. The company has also announced plans to expand the charging infrastructure at HVV's Switch points by 2024. The WeShare fleet, which is a subsidiary of Volkswagen, consists of 800 vehicles in Hamburg alone.

Expansion of charging infrastructure
Almost all of HVV mobility points will become charging stations, and the company will increase their numbers from 90 at present to 220 in 2024, Hochbahn said. Four HVV switch points including those at Schlump and Elbbrücken will become charging stations in 2022.
More functions
The HVV Switch mobility app has been downloaded more than 250,000 times, and over 40,000 journeys have been booked since it launched in 2020. The long-term goal is to make all of Hamburg's transport offers available. The app now has more functions and shows, for instance, real time parking spaces at HVV Switch points and new providers such as MOIA or Miles. The app will soon include the Voi e-scooter provider and the public bicycle provider Stadtrad.
