Good economic relations go hand in hand with growing imports and exports
More than 100 invited guests attended a reception in Mumbai by the Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM), Hamburg Port Authority (HPA), Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) and a. hartrodt GmbH & Co KG to forge closer German-Indian trade relations. The event was held against the backdrop of significantly rising imports and exports, a press release said Thursday (February 22, 2024).
Port forecasts more trade with India
India - important trade partner
India has one of the world's fastest growing economies and a diversified industrial landscape and offers great prospects for German and European companies. Eleven liner services connect the Port of Hamburg with India, including five container liner services, three vehicle transport services and three breakbulk services for heavy cargo. These services link up to at least 12 major Indian ports including Kattupalli from last December 2023. On top of that, seven container and one multi-purpose liner services travel to Colombo, Sri Lanka, which is a vital port for transhipment with India. The average transit time between Hamburg and the Indian subcontinent is approximately a fortnight for the west coast and three weeks for the east coast.
